Taiwan tightens effluent discharge requirements for NH3-N, P and Cu

On December 18, 2024, the Ministry of Environment of Taiwan issued the amended standard “Effluent discharge requirements”. The amended standard will tighten the discharge requirements for NH3-N, P and Cu in stages, and for some enterprises, it will take effect as early as January 1, 2027.

The Standards was promulgated under the “Water Pollution Control Act”, it specifies the regulated pollutants and discharge limits of each pollutant for enterprises that have obtained the discharge permits and discharge wastewater directly into the water bodies such as rivers and lakes.
