Japan announced the Future Measures for Industrial Safety and Health—a proposal by the Labor Policy Council

On January 17, 2025, the Labor Policy Council of Japan announced that it proposed the Future Measures for Occupational Safety and Health to the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare. In light of the circumstances surrounding occupational safety and health issues in recent years, the proposal mainly describes the statuses of and the matters to be implemented for the following seven categories: (1) Safety and Health Measures for Sole Proprietorships, (2) Workplace Mental Health Measures, (3) Measures to Prevent Health Hazards Caused by Chemical Substances, (4) Prevention of Industrial Accidents Caused by Machinery or Other Such Equipment, (5) Prevention of Industrial Accidents Involving Older Workers, (6) Review of Medical Examination Items and Other Matters for the General Health Examination, and (7) Support Measures for Balancing Medical Treatment and Work.
