China drafts GB on limits of chemical substances in express delivery packaging

On April 11, 2023, the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of China jointly notified the WTO of the draft of the mandatory national standard (GB)Limits of heavy metals and other harmful substances in express delivery packaging” and started to solicit comments. The comment period will last for 60 days from the date of the notification. The draft GB specifies the requirements and test methods for heavy metals and harmful substances in the express packaging made of paper, plastics and textile. Specifically, heavy metals such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and harmful substances such as fluorine, benzenes, bisphenol A and phthalates are regulated by the standard.
