China issues national standard for pollution control in hazardous waste storage

On Jan. 20, 2023, China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued a revised national standard called the Standard for Pollution Control on Hazardous Waste Storage (GB 18597-2023), for the rigorous enforcement of the Environmental Protection Law, Solid Waste Environmental Pollution Control Law and other laws and regulations, as well as for the standardization of the environmental management of hazardous waste storage. The revised standard will come into effect July 1, 2023.
