Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, China offers incentive for VOC emission reductions

On December 1, 2022, the municipal government office of Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, China released the “Program of subsiding for clean alternatives to raw materials that generate volatile organic compounds (VOC) in Nantong city (Trial)” for public comments. The program is implemented to encourage companies to transition from the end of pipe treatment of VOC to source reductions (sources of raw materials such as paints, coatings, inks, cleaning agents and adhesives). The Program stipulates the scope of payment, payment standards, deadline and places of application, application procedures as well as other precautions. The payment standard of the subsidy is set as companies will be paid for 50,000 CNY (about 7370 USD) per ton for VOC emission reduction, and any company can apply for the subsidy as long as the reduction of VOC emission reaches 1 ton or more. The deadline for the subsidy application is the end of June, 2024.
