China enforces national standard setting limits on chemical content in suitcases, bags for children

On Oct. 1, 2022, a national recommended standard of China called the General Specification for Children’s Case and Bag (GB/T 41002-2022) came into effect. It was issued back on March 9, 2022 by China’s State Administration for Market Regulation. This standard covers the terminology, product categories, technical requirements, test methods, labeling and packaging of suitcases and bags for children. It classifies suitcases and bags into three categories based on age groups of children; its chemical requirements, a subset of the technical requirements, include material requirements and chemical content limits for each category.
