China’s Zhejiang province releases local standard to evaluate “sponge cities“

On Sept. 30, 2022, the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Zhejiang province, China, released a local standard to evaluate “sponge cities”. A sponge city is a city that can absorb water like a sponge. The standard, which will come into effect Jan. 1, 2023, includes terminology, evaluation indices and evaluation methods.
