China publishes list of solid waste types and codes 
On Jan. 24, 2024, China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment published a List of Types and Codes of Solid Waste. This list aims to fully implement solid waste management in accordance with the Solid Waste Environmental Pollution Prevention and Control Law1. The ministry collected comments on the draft list from June 23 to July 20, 2022. In the final version, compared with the draft, there are some changes to the title and the explanatory text at the beginning of the list, but the definitions and codes of solid waste types remain the same. The list includes the codes, names and definitions of solid waste types, scope of the list, waste categories and waste source industries.
