China strengthens penalties for production safety accidents

On January 10, 2024, the Ministry of Emergency Management released the revised “Provisions on fines and penalties for production safety accidents”. The Provisions will come into effect on March 1, 2024. At the same time, the “Provisions on fines and penalties for production safety accidents (trial)” will be abolished. The Provisions was formulated to prevent and reduce production safety accidents, to strictly pursue the legal responsibilities of businesses operators and related personnel responsible for accidents, and to impose appropriate fines and penalties.
