China releases outline of national river network development plan

On May 25, 2023, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council of China released an outline of the national river network development plan. The outline provides the overall design of the development plan to facilitate expediting the development, building modern and high-quality water infrastructure networks, and resolving issues regarding water resources, aquatic ecosystems, the water environment and floods in a unified manner. It covers the period from 2021 to 2035.
