In April 2022, amendments to this standard were announced and comments were solicited, but this draft is the latest version that further revises the April draft. Comments will be solicited until November 8. Part 2 of SS 586 specifies the entire GHS system, and Part 3 specifies SDS.

Part 2: Globally harmonised system of classification and labelling of chemicals – Singapore’s adaptations

Part 3: Preparation of Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

According to the authorities’ announcement, the main changes from the previous draft are as follows:

  • In Part 2 and Part 3, the uniform cut-off values for toxicity were aligned with the GHS requirements.
  • In Part 3, Annex A (Confidential business information) was revised to allow generic names and masked names.
