South Korea to start consignment trading of GHG emission

On June 26, 2024, the Ministry of Environment (MOE) of South Korea signed an agreement with the Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Research Center of Korea (GIR), an agency operating under MOE, the Korea Exchange (KRX), and Koscom Corporation, an IT solution provider, titled “Service Agreement for the Introduction of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Consignment Trading.” This agreement aims to leverage the expertise and technical capabilities of the signatories to establish a stable GHG emissions consignment trading system in preparation for the upcoming introduction of consignment trading in the first half of 2025.
