South Korea holds event to discuss proposed roadmap for refrigerant reduction based on Kigali Amendment

On September 15, 2023, the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) and the Korea Petrochemical Industry Association (KPIA) held an event titled “2023 Ozone Layer Protection Day” in Seoul to commemorate the United Nations-designated International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer (September 16). The event was attended by about 80 people, including the head of MOTIE's industrial policy department, the executive vice chairman of KPIA, contributors, university students, and members of the Council for the Substitution and Conversion of Specific Substances, to recognize industry members for their contribution to the substitution and conversion of specific substances and to gather industry opinions on a draft roadmap for the reduction of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs*).
