Singapore, bill regulating energy-intensive buildings submitted to parliament

On August 6, 2024, in Singapore, the “Building Control (Amendment) Bill” (hereinafter referred to as “the bill”) to amend the “Building Control Act 1989” (hereinafter referred to as “the Act”) was submitted to parliament. This bill mainly amends Part 3B (Environmental Sustainability Measures for Existing Buildings) of the Act, and newly incorporates energy efficiency improvement requirements for owners of energy-intensive buildings.
