Sri Lanka Organizes E-Waste Collection Program at Free of Charge

The Central Environmental Authority (CEA) organized a two-day event on June 3~4, 2024, to collect waste electric and electronic equipment (e-waste), in line with the World Environment Day on June 5. A total of 97 collection centres were set up nationwide, where consumers could bring in their unwanted e-waste to be disposed of at no charge. The collected E-waste were then sorted by parts and handed over to authorized recyclers in the country, while parts that are currently cannot be recycled domestically will be exported to countries that have facilities to recycle or dispose of such parts.
