Korea makes reporting of changes in Priority Controlled Substances mandatory under K-REACH

On January 3, 2023, the Korean government published an amended version of the Act on Registration, Evaluation, etc. of Chemicals (K-REACH). In this amendment, it is stipulated that a person who produces or imports a product containing a Priority Controlled Substance shall file a change declaration if “important matters such as exposure information, content, and use” of the Priority Controlled Substance are changed among the matters declared. In addition, if the business is transferred from a person who has declared a Priority Controlled Substance or a position is handed over due to a merger, the amendment stipulates that this must be declared to the Ministry of Environment within one month. This amendment is scheduled to come into effect from January 4, 2024 after a one-year grace period.
