On May 3, 2022, South Korea Ministry of Environment published a revised version of the Enforcement Decree of the Act on the Promotion of Saving and Recycling of Resources (Presidential Decree No. 32622), which tightens recycling regulations for 15 types of plastic products including industrial films and PVC products. Under this revision, 15 types of plastic products that have been subject to the imposition of “waste charge system” will be added to the list of “products subject to recycling (products subject to EPR)” in a phased manner from January 1, 2022, requiring them to be recycled. Businesses that manufacture or import such plastic products must achieve the mandatory recycling rate specified for each product.
