South Korea proposed revised criteria for recognition of substance equivalence under K-BPR

On July 11, 2023, the National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) operating under the Ministry of Environment (MOE) of South Korea issued a public notice that proposes to amend the Regulations on Recognition Criteria for Substance Equivalence and Product Similarity, Scope and Method of of Recognition Application Documents, etc. (NIER Notice No. 2023-311).

The highlights of the proposed amendment include: addition of new provisions on the criteria for recognition of equivalence of biocidal substances; and a new procedural rule introduced for those who are appointed by a foreign manufacturer to apply for recognition of substance equivalence. The outline of the proposed amendments is as follows.
