On July 14 and 15, 2026, the Second Global Nature Positive Summit was held in Kumamoto City, Japan. Organized by the Nature Positive Initiative (NPI) and the Japan Committee for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN-J), the summit convened domestic and international stakeholders under the theme “Set Sail Together: Be Part of the Nature-Positive Journey,” This report summarizes the panel discussion “Measuring Nature Positive,” which served as the first main session on the second day. Representatives from NPI, the private sector, Earth observation, and biodiversity data platforms provided practical perspectives on the fundamental questions of how to understand and how to measure the state of nature.
