On July 14 and 15, 2026, the 2nd Global Nature Positive Summit was held in Kumamoto City. Co-hosted by the Nature Positive Initiative and the Japan Committee for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN-J) under the theme "Setting Sail Together: Navigating Towards a Nature-Positive Future," the summit brought together stakeholders from around the world to deepen discussions on achieving a nature-positive world. This article summarizes the presentation content on the highly anticipated concept of the "Nature Footprint."
During the breakout session dedicated to the Nature Footprint, representatives from the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF), Waseda University, The Norinchukin Bank, Shiseido, and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) delivered presentations covering data collection, evaluation methodologies, and corporate practices related to the Nature Footprint.
