Australia Announces Energy Efficiency Strategy for Household Appliances and Equipment, Outlining Direction through 2035

On February 19, 2026, the Australian Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) released the E3 Strategic Plan under the nation’s Equipment Energy Efficiency (E3) program. The strategy presents a vision for improving the energy efficiency of appliances and equipment in Australia and New Zealand through 2035. Specifically, it seeks to expand the scope of energy efficiency policies, reduce energy bills, and lower greenhouse gas emissions. The E3 Implementation Plan and E3 Workplan were released concurrently with this strategic plan.
