Australia Climate Active Carbon Neutral Certification to End 2027, Successor Scheme Consultation Open

The Australian Government announced on July 24, 2026, that it will discontinue the carbon neutral certification scheme administered through the Climate Active program. This decision reflects changes in policy direction, including developments in mandatory climate-related disclosure requirements. As a result of the termination of the certification scheme, use of the Climate Active trademark and the term “carbon neutral” under the program will also cease. Following a transition period, the certification scheme is scheduled to end on June 30, 2027.
