South Korea proposes to set time limit for sell of biocidal products distributed during or before the deferred approval period

On January 31, 2024, the Environment and Labor Committee of the National Assembly of South Korea published a new draft amendment to the Consumer Chemical Products and Biocides Safety Act (hereinafter "the draft K-BPR").

The Committee pointed out that unapproved biocidal substances and products would no longer be allowed to be manufactured or imported after the end of the deferred approval period, but no specific time limit has been set for the sale of biocidal substances and biocidal products that have been manufactured or imported and distributed in the domestic market before the expiration of the deferred approval period (hereinafter "existing distributed substances").
