South Korea tightens up control of uncertified exhaust gas reduction equipment

South Korea's Ministry of Environment announced that a proposed partial amendment to the Presidential Decree on the Clean Air Conservation Act, mainly aimed at tightening control on uncertified exhaust gas reduction equipment, will take effect on February 17, 2024. The proposed amendment contains stricter controls on uncertified exhaust gas reduction equipment, such as the requirement to obtain certification when importing diesel particulate filters (DPFs) for deteriorated diesel vehicles, low-emission engines, or idle reduction systems. It also includes standards for imposing fines as delegated by the Clean Air Conservation Act to its enforcement order.
