South Korea’s national institute of environment to designate about 40 chemicals as new toxic substances

The National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) of South Korea issued a preliminary notice of legislation of a draft partial amendment to the Notice on the Designation of Toxic Substances from November 29, 2023 to December 18, 2023. With this amendment, unique numbers of chemicals 2023-1-1174 to 2023-1-1213 will be newly created, and the thresholds for content levels for mixture will be revised for chemicals with unique numbers 97-1-296, 2014-1-718, and 2017-1-763. In parallel, the NIER also issued another preliminary notice of legislation of draft partial amendment to the Regulation on Classification and Labeling of Chemicals during the same period.
