South Korea proposes to require new application documents for importing and selling prohibited substances

On July 21, 2023, the Ministry of Environment (MOE) of South Korea announced that it would make it mandatory for those who apply for permits for importing or selling any prohibited substances, as controlled by the Chemicals Control Act, to submit a copy of notice of approval for use, including the manufacture, of prohibited substances, as stipulated in Article 117 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act. The Ministry also revealed proposed amendments to Enforcement Orders and Enforcement Rules of the Chemicals Control Act, newly introducing rules on qualifications of chemical substance managers. The outline of the amendments are as follows.
