Malaysia Bans 26 Chemical Substances in Cosmetics under ASEAN Cosmetic Directive Amendment

The National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) of Malaysia, following amendments to the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive (ACD: ASEAN Cosmetic Directive) pursuant to the 40th ASEAN Cosmetic Commission (ACC) Meeting, has promulgated a circular announcing the amendments on December 30, 2024. The amendment now bans a total of 26 chemicals, whereas the date of commencement differs with each chemicals. The amendment content was also incorporated in the Guidelines for Control of Cosmetic Products in Malaysia.
