Malaysia Publishes Energy Efficiency and Conservation Regulations

Malaysia has published the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Regulations 2024 on December 31, 2024. Its date of coming into effect will be the same as the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act on January 1, 2025, the following day. The regulations set forth details of the energy consumers’ requirements mentioned in the Act, such as appointment of energy manager, its appointment period, and submission of annual reports. Provisions regarding application for energy intensity label of buildings, minimum energy performance standards of energy-using products were also mentioned.
