Malaysia promulgates circular accepting amendments to the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive on restricted substances such as salicylic acid

On June 18, 2024, in response to the amendment of the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive (ACD) based on the 39th ASEAN Cosmetic Committee (ACC) Meeting, the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) promulgated a circular accepting the amendment.  The amendment concerns restricted substances such as salicylic acid, and the amended content has been reflected in the country’s “Guidelines for Control of Cosmetic Products in Malaysia.” All products that do not comply with the formulation limit specified in Annex III “List of Substance Which Cosmetic Products Must Not Contain Except Subject to Restriction and Condition Laid Down” of the guidelines are prohibited after the specified prohibition date.
