Malaysia Establishes Energy Exchange for Cross-Border Sale of Green Power

On April 15, 2024, the Malaysian Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) announced that the government had agreed to establish Energy Exchange Malaysia (ENEGEM) to enable cross-border sales of green electricity to neighboring countries. The purpose of the establishment is to promote the domestic energy transition and support regional power integration through the ASEAN Power Grid (APG). Sales of electricity to other countries through ENEGEM are covered in the latest edition of the Energy Committee’s Guide to Cross-Border Electricity Sales (CBES).
