Malaysia adds 21 types of metal waste and scrap to restricted goods

On February 27, 2024, Malaysian government promulgated the “Custom (Prohibition of Imports) (Amendment) Order 2024”, which will come into effect on May 1, 2024. The order amends the Second Schedule (goods requiring an import license) and Fourth Schedule (goods which need to comply with Malaysian standards or other standards approved by the Malaysian authorities and are subject to conditions) of the Custom (Prohibition of Imports) Order 2023. In the Fourth Schedule, 21 new goods, including “Nickel waste and scrap”, are added to the item of “Waste and scrap of metal”.
