New Zealand Introduces Right to Repair Bill Requiring Repairs and Information Disclosure

On February 20, 2025, New Zealand's Parliament introduced the Consumer Guarantees (Right to Repair) Amendment Bill and commenced a public consultation on the proposal, with submissions open until April 3, 2025. The bill aims to amend the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 by instituting guarantees related to repairs and spare parts. The goal is to extend product lifespans by obligating manufacturers to ensure facilities for product repairs and the supply of spare parts, as well as to provide repair-related information and tools upon consumer request.
