South Korea introduces transitional measures for three newly designated Accident Preparedness Substances

On March 10, 2026, South Korea’s National Institute of Chemical Safety promulgated an amended Public Notice on the Designation of Accident Preparedness Substances (Notice No. 2026-2). This amendment is intended to clarify, with respect to three substances that were newly designated as Accident Preparedness Substances in 2025: xylene, styrene, and 1,3-butadiene, how previously completed chemical substance confirmations are to be treated.
