South Korea enacts revised Noise and Vibration Control Act to tighten exhaust noise standard for two-wheeled vehicles

The Ministry of Environment (MOE) of South Korea announced that the Noise and Vibration Control Act, which has been revised to further address the issue of noise from two-wheeled vehicles, and the subordinate regulations thereof (Presidential Decree and Enforcement Rules) will take effect from July 1, 2023. Accordingly, two-wheeled vehicles manufactured and sold on and after July 1, 2023 will not be allowed to exceed “the sound level calculated by adding 5 dB to the result of exhaust noise certification test.”
