Malaysia Publishes Eco Label Standard for Air conditioners

SIRIM (Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia) published an industrial standard, “SIRIM ECO 055:2024 Eco-labelling criteria –Air Conditioners” on February 16, 2024. This standard establishes the SIRIM ecolabel requirements for air conditioners and specifies specific environmental requirements regarding hazardous substance content (RoHS), energy efficiency, refrigerants, packaging materials, and recyclable materials. Compliance with this standard is voluntary, but businesses that comply with the requirements and complete the necessary procedures may display the following SIRIM eco-label (see below).

 

Scope

This standard covers single-phase non-ducted of singlepackage or split-types of wall mounted, portable and ceiling type of air conditioners for residential and commercial buildings and air conditioning system for passenger cars (category M1).
