Malaysia updates Guidance for Preparation and Updating of Report on Industrial Activity

On January 4, 2023, the Malaysian Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) released the Guidance for Preparation and Updating of Report on Industrial Activity 2023 (2nd Edition) (hereinafter referred to as the Guidance). Under the Occupational Safety and Health (Control of Industrial Major Accident Hazards) Regulations 1996, manufacturers carrying out prescribed industrial activities with hazardous substances specified in the Regulations are required to submit a Report on Industrial Activity. The Guidance stipulates the responsibilities of relevant parties, the contents of the report, the method of preparation and updating, and the specifications of the submitted documents.

The Report on Industrial Activity must be submitted to DOSH three months prior to the commencement of industrial activity. In addition, if three years have passed since the date of initial submission of the report, or if there has been a significant change in the contents, an updated report is required to be resubmitted.
