Bhutan releases Environmental Standards, 2020, establishing various standard values

In June 2020, the National Environment Commission of Bhutan released the Environmental Standards, 2020. The standards establish standard values for the following 11 criteria.

  1. Ambient water quality criteria
  2. Industrial effluent discharge standards
  3. Sewage treatment plant discharge standards
  4. Ambient air quality criteria
  5. Industrial emission standards (maximum limit for pollutants)
  6. Industrial emission standards (aluminum smelting)
  7. Workplace emission standards
  8. Vehicular emission and noise limit standards (details are listed in the table below)
  9. Noise level limits
  10. Incineration emission standards
  11. Waste incinerator ash disposal/utilization standards
