South Korea pre-announces draft amendment to GHS classification and labeling rules for 38 substances to be newly designated as hazardous

On June 12, 2026, South Korea's National Institute of Chemical Safety (NICS) issued a preliminary administrative notice of a draft amendment to the Regulation on Classification and Labeling, etc. of Chemical Substances (NICS Notice No. 2026-61) and began public consultation. The draft amendment is a follow-up measure linked to the draft amendment to the Public Notice on the Designation of Substances with Acute Human Health Hazards, Chronic Human Health Hazards, and Ecological Hazards (NICS Notice No. 2026-62), which was separately announced on the same day.
