South Korea to amend procedures for safety confirmation–required consumer chemical products

On February 6, 2026, the Korean government published draft amendments to the Enforcement Decree and Enforcement Rules of the Consumer Chemical Products and Biocides Safety Act (“K-BPR") following amendments to the Act (effective May 12, 2026). The draft amendments set out measures necessary for the implementation of the amended Act. In particular, the proposed amendments to the Enforcement Rules include: (1) detailed provisions for extending the validity period of the confirmation of compliance with safety standards for safety confirmation-required consumer chemical products; (2) the establishment of procedures for issuing corrective orders in cases such as violations of labeling standards; and (3) clarification of the scope of investigations conducted by the Consumer Chemical Product Safety Center.
