South Korea issues guidelines on approval for potentially asbestos-containing substances

On September 2, 2025, the Ministry of Environment (MOE) of South Korea announced that it had enacted and promulgated a new regulation titled the “Business Guidelines on Approval Procedures for the Import and Production of Potentially Asbestos-Containing Substances.” The new regulation took effect immediately on the date of promulgation. Pursuant to Article 11 of the Asbestos Safety Management Act, the regulation primarily aims to set forth detailed procedures for obtaining approval for the import and production of potentially asbestos-containing substances.
