South Korea unveils amendment to the Chemicals Control Act

On August 11, 2025, the Environment and Labor Committee of South Korea’s National Assembly announced a draft amendment to the Chemicals Control Act. Under the current Act, if a business operator engaged in the handling (i.e., manufacture, sale, storage, transportation, or use) of hazardous substances entrusts the handling of such substances, the operator must report to the Minister of Environment the name of the entrusted party, the reasons for the entrustment, the entrustment plan, and the chemical accident safety management plan.
