South Korea to revise the Enforcement Rules of the Chemical Substances Control Act to classify criteria according to the hazards of chemical substances

On February 26, 2005, the Ministry of Environment (MOE) of South Korea published the draft revision of the Enforcement Rules of the Chemical Substances Control Act. The purpose of the draft revision is to: (i) classify business establishments into those required to obtain business licenses and those only required to submit business notifications according to the hazards of hazardous chemical substances handled, and (ii) change the inspection cycles for facilities handling hazardous chemical substances based on the risk levels of hazardous chemical substances handled.
