Korea to set rules for transfer of responsibilities when agents of foreign manufacturers are changed

On February 5, 2025, the Environment and Labor Committee of the National Assembly of South Korea announced a new draft of the Act on Registration, Evaluation, etc. of Chemicals (hereinafter “Chemical Evaluation Act” or “K-REACH”).

According to the Committee, the current chemical substances registration system under the Chemical Evaluation Act lacks rules governing the transfer of duties and responsibilities when foreign manufacturers change agents they appoint. This has caused a number of problems.
